Church History
Celestial Church of Christ is a Pentecostal church Christian movement, which was founded by Reverend Samuel Bilehou Oshoffa on 29th September 1947 in Porto Novo, Republic of Benin. It was from here that the church spread to other West African neighbouring countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso in the early 50s.
Nigeria, being the most heavily populated out of all these nations, became the country from which it had most of its members (over 5 million members). For this reason, though Porto-Novo, the mother parish is regarded as the Supreme Headquarters, the founder of the church took residence in Nigeria in 1952 and established the organisation’s International Headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
The church later spread to countries in Europe, such as United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany etc. It also has a very strong presence in USA, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand etc.
