Qualification   
  • Evidence of active evangelical/missionary work
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or qualification equivalent of level 6

Responsibilities   
  • Oversee and lead the evangelism department
  • Support Sunday morning services, preaching and involving others in leading and preaching as appropriate
  • Teach church members to share their faith effectively, and answer common questions and objections from the surrounding post-Christian culture
  • Lead the church into building and developing relationships with people, welcoming them into the church family and sharing Christ’s love with them
  • Preach and speak at other services or functions from time to time, including conducting public services such as baptisms
  • Provide baptismal classes to prepare people for the significant event
  • Encourage and maintain an outward-looking focus within the church
  • Perform pastoral care duties in accordance with our constitution
  • Maintain an understanding of individual circumstances and attend to their personal and spiritual needs by prayer, visitation, encouragement and guidance with the help of other leaders and Senior Pastor
Requirements for the role   
  • Must be a born-again Christian, believe in Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God, the Holy Spirit and the Holy bible as the word of God
  • Active, daily, personal devotional life
  • Open to the move and voice of God
  • An active, committed Evangelical/Pentecostal Christian
  • Public speaking skills
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English Language
  • Ability to lead church services
  • Ability to work with the Senior Pastor and other Pastors and leaders in growing the ministry
  • Ability to lead the whole church by example, encouragement, counsel and discipline
  • Ability to teach members to share their faith effectively and answer common questions and objections from the surrounding post-Christian culture/environment
  • Knowledge of the West African/Caribbean culture including ability to speak one local African language
  • Ability to minister to the needs peculiar to that ethnic group is desirable
Experience   
  • Active evangelical/missionary experience
  • Experience of leading the church in building and developing relationships with people and sharing the love of Christ with them
  • Experience of conducting routine church services and public services such as baptisms in an ethnically diverse congregation is desirable
  • Experience of working proactively within a team and with no supervision
  • Experience of offering pastoral support and ensuring that priority is given to those in most need particularly those from different cultures, minority ethnic groups whose first language is primarily not English so that they do not drift away from the church in times of difficulty
  • Ability to understand some of the challenges and complexities that migrants face and support them
